‘Digital Revolution Triggered By The Pandemic Will Stay’ Says Rajdeep Mayer From RDM Media
Today we’d like to introduce you to RajDeep Mayer.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
The post pandemic world echoes through a relentless pathway of change which is resonating through the population & it is safe to accept that the transition into a digital era has only been catalysed by the post pandemic times. A street hawker to multinationals, every establishment has now embraced digital method of running their businesses moving ahead.India’s entry into this multi-billion dollar industry has happened about 14 years ago with our initial Digital Marketing Campaigns for Yo Yo Honey Singh. I predicted the current digital marketing boom almost a decade ago. We singlehandedly changed the Digital Marketing Space into a versatile multidimensional ecosystem that it is today. After finishing my MBA in marketing, I started programming and marketing websites purely through advanced SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) strategies. Then I started experimenting with different strategies on various platforms which were available at that point in time MySpace & Twitter etc. The experiment was a huge success which gained a lot of organic traction, engagements & reach. Then we also started customising My Space/Twitter/Hi5/Youtube pages with content and great branding visuals to targeted audience for various artists & brands, which was again a huge hit as people were experiencing the dawn of something brand new. Although I started off with traditional ways of marketing but quickly switched to social media marketing with MySpace, Hi5, Youtube, Orkut & Twitter.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
I remember approaching various Production houses/Corporates/Brands and some of the most influential people in the film and music industry to promote the idea of social media marketing but then I was immediately dismissed off-hand. Some of these stalwarts had told me back then that TV, radio and newspaper would continue to dominate the content consumption space and this digital marketing would never work because digital was for just for emails, kids and video games! But today come to think of it all of these media platforms are fighting it out on digital. Companies back then would often refer to themselves as ‘Online Marketing Businesses’, we felt that the term was too vague to represent the true nature of the business that we were in, that’s when we came up with this ingenious term and started calling ourselves as a ‘Digital Marketing Business’ which got picked up by the entire industry later. After that I got busy working across the globe with various mainstream artists in the UK,Europe & USA creating viral waves which echoed across the entertainment & corporate industry worldwide. Then as destiny would have it,I met Yo Yo Honey Singh – the biggest Music Artist of INDIA and the rest as they say was history.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
There Are No Shortcuts To Real Success, work hard and keep learning. So many people are in such a hurry to get success that they take any shortcuts that come across their way. In reality, shortcuts usually lead to disappointments rather than quicker success. In fact in Digital Industry, you have to have full knowledge and work hard to deliver results. For the past 12 or 13 years we haven’t dabbled with fake views, honestly until around 5 years ago there was nothing like fake views or followers. When people couldn’t figure out how the organic reach worked, they came up with shortcuts like click farms which gives you fake views and followers. We are absolutely against it because it affects your organic reach, your organic growth, it will affect your real followers and eventually you’ll end up losing your account. All I have to say is don’t make a fool of yourself with fake followers and fake views as there are no shortcuts to real success. Being genuine and being real is the right way to go!
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Success for me is not just wealth, happiness or fame. Success for me is a state of mind where I feel that I made difference for many. Success for me is having an ability to learn something new each day.Success is to help others and teach them new skills. Therefore we are launching a new E-Learning platform RDM Learnathon. This is a unique e-learning platform for everything digital; this not only helps brand and market one’s products, services or business but enables self-employment opportunities. The ideology of digitally empowering everyone in the country has been the core thought of the RDM Learnathon which is aimed at driving the digital change as it courses through the daily lives of each and every one of us.
What’s next for you?
Today social media has become a part of everyone’s lives but the way we misuse social media has set a dangerous precedent. We should educate youngsters on social media where it should become a mandatory course in high schools and universities. The idea is to educate children about online abuse, trolling and sensitising them to use social media sensibly. Nurturing a clean online social media generation is one of my top priorities and I’m working towards my goal. I have also been avidly involved with empowering unprivileged kids about Digital Marketing.I believe in teaching youngsters the basics of Digital Marketing, my students have started digital marketing firms of their own and some of them have been hired by RDM. We have designed various Digital Marketing Courses ranging from 3months, 6 months & 1 year diploma which tests student’s knowledge in real time on real campaigns through RDM Learnathon. Today having a colossal digital presence is the need of the hour but safeguarding the brands from the negative prejudice should be intrinsic to the ethos of the brand and that is a mammoth of a task. On the other hand we have just launched RDM ORM (Online Reputation Management) which protects brands from the negative sentiments online . As any brand gets bigger online there’s a need to protect the brand from spamming, trolling and a lot of negative bias which would otherwise be catastrophic to the brand image.
Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more?
