Exclusive Interview With Charmaine Wells-Benjamin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charmaine Wells-Benjamin.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

Hello, my name is Charmaine and I am a wife and mother of two beautiful children who both inspire me to do what I do. I am a Birth and Postpartum Doula, Childbirth Educator, Lactation Counselor and Licensed Massage & Bodywork Therapist. I am the proud Mama behind Mama Me Time and we are the absolute best at helping women break up with stress, pain, anxiety and/or tension for good! We offer a variety of luxurious massage, spa, and detox treatments and we are the only spa that works closely with reliable Doula’s and Nanny’s to refer out to our clients so that they are confident knowing their child(ren) are well cared for while they enjoy some well-deserved “me time”. As a mother of two, I know all too well how important it is to take care of myself so that I may take care of those in my household. Therefore, I am fortunate enough to be able to educate my clients but be a resource for the community. I am a true believer that everything happens for a reason, and my story is no different. I was introduced to Birth work back in 2017 after being a first-time mother and later introduced to massage therapy to better serve my doula clients. After the birth of my second child in 2021, I also gave birth to Mama Me Time with every intention of spreading my wings and fulfilling my true purpose.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

Well like the saying goes, “Nothing worth having comes easy,” as I have had to deal with roadblocks and detours along the way. Things are forever changing in the marketing world, more specifically social media. As a graduate of Clark Atlanta University, I have a degree in Business Administration & Marketing but even that could not prepare me for keeping up with the current trends and getting our name out to the public. We have been in business for less than six months and we have already begun our rebranding strategy to appeal to our audience. Do not get me wrong, I still believe in the power of the “word of mouth” and the client referral system, but marketing/advertising takes the cake as it relates to reaching our ideal client. Other challenges include building the perfect team, funding our ultimate vision for Mama Me Time, and making the necessary sacrifices that comes along with being an entrepreneur.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

Here at Mama Me Time, we specialize in providing a world-class spa experience for our guests and team members. We pride ourselves on our five core values: Integrity, Kindness, Commitment, Respect and Service while providing a safe environment where beauty, comfort, knowledge, and personalized attention creates the most memorable and rejuvenating experience. Our massage services include prenatal, Swedish, deep tissue, hot stones, and aromatherapy. Our spa services include yoni steams, foot detox, body wraps and more. We are the only spa that has a Childcare Referral Program to better serve our clients hire a dependable sitter while they enjoy our elite spa services, but we are also the only spa looking to expand so that we may provide a convenient Drop-In Childcare included in our annual membership packages. Here at Mama Me Time, it is more than a massage, it is an experience!

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

The best advice I have for my readers is to go for it and take your leap. Your leap can start as a side hustle, your leap can be going back to school part time to prepare for your ultimate leap. Whatever it may be, just go for it! Time waits for no one. I spent months not sleeping well because I was ignoring my sign to take my leap. I began doubting my purpose and my vision to help others until one day I finally got up and signed my new lease for Mama Me Time. So, if you are reading this and you too are struggling, unmotivated at work, or just downright unhappy in your current industry… I encourage you to write down ten goals you have for yourself (five short term and five long term) and let us get to work!

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

I define success as financial freedom for myself and my family while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. To master the five pillars of wellness in my life which are mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, and social well-being will help me get there. Who would have thought that I would step into the Entrepreneur light and inspire so many because of my work; but here I am. Every time I see a new booking on our site, a returning client walking through our doors, a new client who saw us on social media, and even a mama who cannot stop smiling because she has learned to find her work-life balance because of Mama Me Time; I am successful. I am not only building a successful spa, but I am building a successful brand because of the testimonials our clients can and will share to the world.

What’s next for you?

The sky is the limit. Mama Me Time is currently looking for two diligent individuals so that we may add additional value to our team. We are seeking a licensed massage therapist and esthetician. Secondly, we are also seeking our next location, so be on the lookout for details on our official Grand Opening (Summer 2022). And finally, this time next year we hope to also add a mental health counselor to our team. We understand that physical self-care is important, but we also recognize that our mental and emotional self-care deserves the same attention.
