Today we’d like to introduce you to Keith Shaw .
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
I started from very humble beginnings, working my way from a dishwasher to Director level leadership positions for Fortune 500 level organizations. For the last 20+ years, I have been blessed with the opportunity to be a trusted advisor to CEOs, Vice Presidents and other top management. Through coaching, keynote speaking and corporate training, I inspire people to become the best version of themselves, to become well-prepared leaders and help them accomplish their dreams.
I am passionate about helping others because so many others have positively impacted me. Coaches, mentors and family friends introduced me to Intentionality, Personal Development and Leadership. These concepts helped me transform from poverty to prosperity and from a laborer to a leader. I want to share this roadmap with the world.
As a certified Maxwell Leadership team member, a veteran HR leader with more than 20+ years of experience and former adjunct professor at Baylor University, I have a unique set of credentials. But what I want people to know and remember about me most is that I am a loving husband, father, grandfather and faithful Christian believer with a personal mission statement to help people reach their full potential, so together we can make a positive difference in the lives of others.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
I had to overcome several challenges during my journey. The first of which was the challenge of growing up in a low income, high crime community with limited opportunities. I had learn to see beyond the limitations of the community within which I lived.
I discovered intentionality and the requirement to be intentional regarding things that are important and impactful. This helped me develop an understanding of purpose and commitment, both of which have served me throughout my life and career. I believe intentionality and personal development are the gateway to our gifts.
I also had to overcome getting promoted into management without training or support. I was really good as an individual contributor, but had no work-related experience as a leader. I was not provided any training by my employer to prepare me, and received no training and very little support after being promoted. I had to figure it out myself. Personal development was the key to me learning how to become an effective leader. Since then, I began my life-long engagement with personal development, and remain committed to becoming the best version of myself, and the best leader I can be.
Personal development led me to become a student of leadership, which helped me learn to connect, engage and create great work environments with increased productivity and improved employee retention. I remember wishing I had someone to help me learn to lead. It is my mission to equip and support other leaders to accelerate their growth and success.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
Individuals and organizations should work with me because of my unique set of credentials, my passion for personal development and leadership and my personal commitment to helping others reach their full potential. I have studied and practiced leadership for 20+ years, applied personal development and leadership concepts successfully in my own career and helped others experience tremendous success in their career and leadership journeys.
I specialize in leadership, personal development and DISC Behavior Style analysis.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
The best piece of advice that I like to give to my clients is that personal development is the gateway to your gift. I believe each of us has special talent and gifts inside of us, and it is up to us to discover and develop that gift. The search for your special gift will lead to a lifetime of growth and ongoing success.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Success is relative. It means something different for every individual. For me, success means making progress towards or accomplishing a meaningful goal or set of goals. I believe success is inevitable if a few basic components are present. Those components are setting an attainable goal, creating a plan, following the plan, putting in the work and not stopping until the goal is achieved. This will help you experience more success and develop confidence that you can accomplish anything.

In 2023, I intend to focus on sharing my message regarding intentionality, personal development and leadership with the world through speaking engagements, corporate training and team-building events and through my leadership coaching programs.
