Former D1 Athlete Builds Elite Softball Training Business

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Wren.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

Jamie Wren spent over 18 years of her life pursuing her passion to become an elite softball player. She was a triple threat at the plate, while also being a utility player on the field. She set several records pitching in high school, but was unable to pitch in college due to a broken wrist which ended her pitching career. In her 18 years of playing, Jamie competed on some of the top teams in the nation, as a starter and top hitter. In travel ball, her team placed top 3 in the PGF tournament, and while playing at Long Beach, her team ranked top 20 in the nation. Following her college career, she was given the opportunity to play professionally in Italy and try out for the Italian National team that competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which unfortunately fell short due to the COVID restrictions. She now applies her knowledge and skills toward teaching the next generation of elite softball players, in hopes of helping them achieve their dreams.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

After the conclusion of her 18-year-long softball career, she struggled to find what the next chapter of her life held in store. It was a very difficult transition to go from a lifelong journey toward becoming a professional athlete, to a “normal” person that now had to choose a career. She struggled on and off for over a year before she realized that she had immense value to offer the world in the form of 18 years of softball playing experience.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

DubTraining was founded by Jamie Wren, who graduated from Long Beach State with a bachelor of science in communications. After concluding her lifelong softball career, Jamie was looking for the next chapter of her life and began offering hitting and slapping lessons out of her parent’s backyard on a part-time basis. A few short months later her part-time business exploded into a full-time career where she moved into a new indoor facility in Brea, CA. This is where DubTraining was born. Jamie has over 18 years of playing experience and has serviced over 2,700 lessons from over 400 students across the United States to date. Additionally, in just under 2 years, DubTraining has helped many players receive scholarships to both further their education and softball careers at the collegiate level.

Coach Jamie not only strives to nurture her athletes into being elite softball players but also well-rounded, respectful human beings. She continuously tests the boundaries of mental, physical, and emotional potential to show her players that this sport is more than just a game; it is something that can shape a player in all aspects of their life and can set them up for success once they step off the dirt. Jamie is a coach, mentor, and friend to all players who cross her path.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

Everyone has a gift to share with the world. But it is up to you to find that gift and share it with others in a meaningful way. At the end of the day, if you don’t pick up the bat and swing, you’ll never get on base.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Success to me is seeing my students achieve their ultimate potential in life both on and off the field. Every time a student walks out of my cage 1% better than when they walked in, that is what I define as success.

What’s next for you?

What’s next for Jamie and DubTraining? She is working on a project called #DubClub that will provide a fully immersive training experience for players across the nation.
