Interview with inventor Benjamin Sley about developing RiteShirt™ with RFGard® to reduce cellphone Radio Frequency (RF) radiation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Benjamin Sley .

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

I used to have a heartbeat irregularity called “atrial fibrillation” in which the heart skips some beats in an irregular manner. As I did research about this condition, I came to understand that the heart lies mostly on the left side of the chest. Most shirts come with a left side pocket only, so that when a cellphone is placed in that left side pocket, it is literally directly over and within an inch of your beating heart. Cellphones give off a form of Radio Frequency (RF) radiation that can interfere with the tiny bioelectrical signals that cause the heart to beat. So, because of my atrial fibrillation, I had the idea to protect my heart by moving the traditional left side shirt pocket to the right side, away from the heart. I had the further idea to line that pocket pocket with a special fabric that reduces RF radiation from a cellphone that may be placed in that pocket. I applied for U.S. Trademarks for the words, “RiteShirt” and “RFGard”for the protective fabric liner. I also obtained the website RiteShirt.co in which I am seeking to stock and sell the shirt. I have contacted several major retailers who have expressed an interest in RiteShirt™. This shirt is for men and women. It will protect the hearts of both men and women, and also protect delicate breast tissue with the RFGard™ liner in the pocket. Recent studies have shown that RF radiation increases the risk of breast cancer.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

I had many challenges in getting proper samples which I would be pleased to support and market. I had to make sure that the fabric of the shirts was non-shrinkable, non-wrinkle and non-pillable (not forming tiny balls of attached material when washed) and a polyester/cotton blend. I had to make sure that the RF-reducing fabric was the correct fabric to reduce RF cellphone radiation, non-shrinkable and that it was sewn correctly into the Right Shirt Pocket. There is a challenge to get major retailers to carry such line of shirts in the U.S. and I am dealing directly with clothing manufacturers overseas. I want this to be good for people throughout the world. My next goal would be to be able to stock this shirt for sale in Canada, Mexico and Central America; then on to Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia/NZ.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

I served in the U.S. Marine Corps and learned lessons of perseverance and not letting a buddy down. In a way, I feel that RiteShirt™ lined with RF-reducing fabric is like helping my buddies, that is, for all who are concerned about RF radiation. At this point in time, there is no competing product, mine is the first and only one to move the chest pocket to the right side alone and line it with RFGard. Further, to protect the concept, I have filed for two U.S. Trademarks so later competition won’t be able to use the name “RiteShirt” or “RFGard”. You ask, “why should someone work with me”? Because you should work with the innovator and market leader, not a copier, if they come along. I am passionate about this because of my own prior heart condition and because I feel there is a real need to protect the public from such RF radiation they may not even realize could affect their heart and delicate breast tissue. I am passionate about this because I am a grandfather to seven grandchildren, some who use cellphones regularly and are continually exposed to RF radiation. Also, I am a Registered U.S. Patent Attorney and have long studied innovative ideas and have my own U.S. Patent. Several people have told me they think that this is such a great idea, they wish that they had thought of doing something like this because it can be so very helpful to so many.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

My best piece of advice for readers who desire success is don’t give up on your dreams. If you have a dream, it is likely that God gave you that dream. We read in the Bible many people were given visions of goals and life missions in their dreams. Figure out a way to make that dream a goal and don’t just dream about it but daily work towards your goal. If you see a problem, find a way to fix it! Think of ways to help people in areas where you have found difficulties. Take action! As John C. Maxwell has stated, “The greatest intention is nothing compared with the smallest action!” Success comes from staying the course realizing that success comes from many failures, learning what does not work. As Zig Ziglar has said, “You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want.” I believe in helping others if I can do that, that is my definition of “success”.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Success to me means looking out for my brothers and sisters and those who are needy and the orphans. In the Marines, we had a motto of not leaving a buddy behind, we did whatever needed to be done, whatever it took. Success means following your dreams because they were given to you for a reason, and only you can fulfill that dream. Success has an element of Leadership to it if you are successful, your example will naturally influence others positively, which is the nature of Leadership which is really a form of servanthood. Jesus put it this way, “Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.” This, to me, is the essence of Success and Leadership.
Rudyard Kipling also summarized it in his poem, “If”, as follows: “If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it, And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!”

What’s next for you?

I want to make “RiteShirt” a success around the world to help protect people and preserve their health. I have plans to set up a Charitable Foundation to help provide such shirts to those less fortunate. According to the United Nations, even in the some of the poorest countries on earth, the cellphone is ubiquitous, so there is a just as great a need for this RiteShirt with RFGard in all countries, whether in developing or fully industrialized countries.
I have other ideas for example, I was able to lose 70 pounds two years ago and keep it off. I now feel at least 20 years younger. I did it on a “Keto” diet. It’s not just a diet but a lifestyle change. One of the things I ate daily was a “keto cake” using low carbohydrate flour such as flaxseed and/or almond meal. I add chia seeds and coarse bran, so the net carbs of such food are near zero. I would like to package these “keto cakes” in a manner like granola bars as meal substitutes for 2 meals a day, eating a nutritional evening meal. I have applied for U.S. Trademarks for this product, “KETOBISCUIT” and “NUTRI BISCUIT”. I think this can greatly help people’s health! Stay tuned! After “RiteShirt” has taken off, the next thing is these packaged meals of “KetoBiscuit” and “NutriBiscuit”!

Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more?

If you want to learn more, you can contact me on LinkedIn and/or Facebook (Benjamin Sley) and I will be glad to provide you with recent scientific materials regarding cellphone RF radiation and how RiteShirt with RFGard can protect the heart and delicate breast tissue. I would be glad to discuss retail matters or bulk ordering with you. If you are pleased with the RiteShirt, I would be delighted to receive your comments or find out what you think can make it better.
