Meet Albert C. Hurston Jr., CPA the owner and CEO of Right Choice Accounting Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Albert C. Hurston Jr., CPA.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

Hey! Thanks for having me. My name is Albert C. Hurston Jr. or Albert the CPA and I’m the owner, founder, and CEO of Right Choice Accounting Solutions. I’m married with 3 kids and I live in the Atlanta area with my family. Career wise, I’ve been in accounting for almost 10 years and I’ve been a CPA for almost 4 years. I’ve had the pleasure of working across many of the different areas of accounting, including financial accounting, reporting, audit, and tax. My well-rounded experience really helped me to progress in corporate America. Now it is extremely beneficial for me in running Right Choice.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

There have been a lot of challenges over my career, but they are all branches off of the mindset tree. I had to rebuild my mindset from scratch to convince myself that I am one of the few people from my family who can graduate college… I’m one of the few black accountants who can increase the less than 1% of all CPAs are black statistic… I can build a successful business… I can be a role model… I can do anything that I want to as long as I believe it and put the work in… Those are beliefs that didn’t come naturally, so they are things that I had to overcome and more importantly believe that I could overcome.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

Right Choice Accounting Solutions is an outsourced accounting firm. We allow our small business partners to outsource their full accounting function to us and focus on running their business. The real return on investment (ROI) in accounting and tax services comes from the strategy and analysis. This is what we focus on. We work to ensure that our small business clients are armed with the types of information that successful businesses use daily to make decisions. Simply put, we build accounting systems that include all of the different pieces to the accounting and tax puzzle in a one-stop shop service. Our outsourced accounting department includes a virtual CFO, accounting and tax strategy, budget support, projections, bookkeeping, tax preparation, and much more. Again, it’s a one-stop accounting shop. What separates us from a lot of our competition is our focus and the all-in one nature of what we offer.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

First things first, you have to define what success means for yourself. It’s harder now that we have access to the social media highlight reels, but it’s important to do the work on figuring out your own personal definition of success. After that all there is to do is to create a plan and stay consistent. Easy to say.. Hard to do.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Success is simple to me.. Living the life that I desire on the terms that I desire.

What’s next for you?

A lot! We’re going to continue to scale the business, save our clients lots of money, and really focus on our marketing. We’re offering something that every business owner needs, but we have to do the work to show them. This is our short-term focus. We’re also hoping to do more podcasts and media.. We’re open to a lot right now, so I don’t want to limit our options by being too laser focused. If that makes sense…
