Meet Daniel Harvey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Harvey.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

It’s an honour to speak with you too! My name is Daniel Harvey, and I am a co-founder of Passion.io

Originally, I started as an intern working for my co-founder, Matthias. Back then, he ran a marketing agency for influencers, helping them build an online product to sell to their following.

We did very well with this, as we took a percentage of the sales that we made our customers. However, we always dreamed of making something bigger, allowing anyone and everyone to do this for themselves. So we founded Passion.io, a drag and drop builder for mobile apps.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

As any founder knows, building out a tech team is challenging and expensive. We initially had to do this without investment, which meant that things got quite tight at times! Luckily for us, coaches, creators, and entrepreneurs have been desperate for this kind of service for a while. This has meant that we have always had strong traction with our online marketing.

Things did get very close to the wire at times, as we tried to balance our marketing spend, with our need to generate revenue to support our growing tech team, but luckily we made it through. Since then, we have run into further challenges…

Once one of our customers submits their app, they have to go through the Apple and Google app submission process. This is not designed for individuals, and is very overwhelming. However, after years of going through this process ourselves, we are now at the point where we can teach our customers to do it quickly and easily, and even offer handheld support for those that are struggling.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

Passion.io completely revolutionizes apps for entrepreneurs. Previously, if you wanted to build your own app, (a fitness app for example) you would have to pay $100,000s and months of work to a freelance tech team. They would not really understand what you wanted and needed, and so the end result would probably not be very good.

If you think about it, the world is already 100% mobile first. The goal of Passion.io is to enable everyone to work within this new online world, instead of trying to build products that revolve around desktop. Take Instagram as an example. All of their features (both for viewing content and creating content) is done with the phones in mind. The same is true for Tinder. They skipped desktop and completely dominated their competition by leveraging innovations in mobile phones, specifically, the swiping motion on touch screens.

Passion.io makes sure you aren’t building your business around outdated tools. If you are a coach, teacher, or entrepreneur, and you aren’t using your own app in 2022, you are making a huge mistake.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

I know it is a cliché, but the best advice I can give is to build an incredible team around you. Passion.io is a remote company, but we do regular trips away together as team bonding. What I’ve noticed is that the ideas and creativity that are generated when you have a group of talented, interesting, passionate people in a room together is the most incredible thing. Build a successful team, and you will find success yourself.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

The goal of Passion.io is to make the world a more passionate and confident place. What I’ve found is that there are people out there who make others around them happier and successful. I work with many coaches who have changed the way I think about all kinds of topics. I then pass this on to my friends and family.

Passion.io wants to enable those who have a positive impact on the world, to impact more people, and in turn these people can impact more people. This is success to me.

What’s next for you?

Even though I have been working at Passion.io for over 5 years, I feel I am just getting started! There are new and exciting challenges to overcome each and every day. Although we have levelled up so much in the last years, I know that we need to keep on improving to hit our goals. I can see myself staying here a long time.

Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more.
