Today we’d like to introduce you to Princess Garrett- Rucker.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

The aesthetic qualities that define beauty are natural and organic; yet, in some instances, they may require some enhancement in order to be noticed. In the early 80s, Billy Ocean released a song called “Suddenly” in which he mentioned the beauty that exists in things that we never take notice of. Although that song was a few years before my time, his lyrical sentiments brilliantly describe the motivation behind my brand and my way of life. My commitment to discovering and unleashing the beauty in others springs from a God-given gift that has evolved over time! As a young girl, I was blessed to have insight and influence from my uncle, Kenneth Maurice Winston. While attending Holy Names Academy at the age of 5, he selected my clothes, applied my makeup, and taught me how to properly walk the runway and give a flawless princess wave! As a result, I walked away from the school pageant with the title of QUEEN. He was also the “go-to guy” in our family for hair shows, fashion shows, and any occasion where flawless appearance was mandated. Not only is he my biggest inspiration, but he is also the reason that I ventured into the beauty industry by profession.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

Any measure of success will be met with challenges, but determination and perseverance make the journey worthwhile. While most only see the glamour in what I do, managing three successful businesses while serving as a wife and mother of two is not for the faint of heart. Although my husband and children are my immediate priority, I stand by my commitment to unleashing beauty – even in the midst of those challenges. Time is precious, and balance is key!

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

As a Business Strategist and beauty connoisseur, the P Diamond Collection is the platform by which clients are afforded a wide array of services that enhance their inner and outer beauty. Business strategist, event styling, entrepreneurial partnerships, and interior design are just a few of the services that the P Diamond brand currently provides to our distinguished clientele. By forming partnerships with entrepreneurs, we offer the guidance that is needed to start and successfully maintain their businesses in today’s ever-evolving market. Serving as their Virtual Assistant, I play a key role in helping entrepreneurs tackle the day-to-day operations of their business with the goal of helping them to win! Also as the CFO of Bodied by Flossy, we offer a luxurious spa experience specializing in massage therapy and non-invasive services – including vacuum therapy, laser liposuction, cellulite reduction, detox wraps, and post-op care for cosmetic surgery patients.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

Initially, my advice to a beginner would be to free yourself from bad habits and to treat your entrepreneurial efforts with the same vigor that you would give to your regular 9 to 5 job. Building a successful brand requires planning, preparation, and execution! While striving for excellence, it is important to remember that a slow start (which is bound to occur) does not mean that there won’t be a big finish! Continue to strive for excellence and stand firmly by your commitment to finish strong! As businesses try to diversify their offerings, it is important to know with certainty who your target audience is and avoid shifting from products and services that cater to your core. Consumers are loyal to brands that specialize in their immediate needs, and a strong focus on the needs of your core is possibly one of the most significant ingredients in the recipe for success!

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Success is a decision, not luck. William Shakespeare once said, “To be or not to be, that is the question”, when I see the word success I see perseverance and victory. To get to success you got to endure and sacrifice.
