The Slim Woods Story
Today we’d like to introduce you to Keonna Woods.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m am Keonna Woods, AKA Slim Woods. I am a mogul to individuals that knows me. I got to where I am Today by never giving up. I grew up in the foster care system in Brooklyn New York as well as Hartford CT. As a teenage mom I had to put my dream’s aside. I also knew one day I’d set forth to finally achieve the dreams I had earlier in life which was being an Artist. I always wanted the finer things in life. I knew nothing would be given to me so I made sure I went to get whatever it was I wanted in life. I took from all no’s to go harder as I knew one day a yes would be on the other side of that door. I use to sing in the Church choir. I made it my goal to sing solos as I always wanted to stand out from the crowd. I developed a love for music at an early age. It filled a void I use to have growing up in the foster care system. Music made me feel alive, wanted, important. I leaned toward rapping because that was my way of getting my anger or story out as a child in a way I wouldn’t get in trouble but it forced people to listen to me.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
As a young adult I found myself in constant trouble with the law. Mainly because I had no guidance. Rebelling was my way of saying “F you “ to a society I believed was failing me. I quickly realized my way of thinking, I was my own worst nightmare. I knew I had to Change my way of thinking so that I could flourish in life. It wasn’t easy. I overcame that struggle with daily meditation and manifestation. That was my way of escaping my pain or any let downs life may have dealt me. Meditation provided me with an entire new outlook on life. I knew I was someone special that would make it big in life. In order to do that I needed to focus on me and change for the better.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
I am an authentic Artist. I only rap about what I’ve actually been through. I go in that studio, close my eyes and tell all my life stories that I use to be ashamed of. That’s my therapy. I am bringing back what hip hop needs. Hip Hop needs real lyrics, with real stories that people all around the world can relate to. I want to be known for my sound, my energy, my humbleness, my music. I am about to change the game. I am going to make the world appreciate Artist that don’t sell their souls. It’s about time someone set that trend.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
Always be yourself. Never let no’s or closed doors discourage you. Keep grinding and investing in your brand. Always keep this saying in the back of your head “You can’t win without putting effort in”
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Success to me means working hard, Long nights, early Morning’s, investing and believing in yourself, Being a leader and never looking for handouts.
What’s next for you?
My single “ No Better” & “Love” drops early next year. I want to capture listeners all around the world. It’s time I let the people know what’s been kept inside of me all these years. It’s time they know the real Slim Woods.
