The Test Within The Testimony, How Tamika Burton Conquered Cancer And Found Her Love For Makeup!

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamika Burton.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

I’ve always love the instant confidence boosts I would get when I would do my makeup. About 10 years ago I was diagnosed with cancer and I went through a very aggressive chemotherapy. With chemotherapy there are so many restrictions you have to make including – of course the side effects of the treatment. Not being able to do anything besides stay indoors I would do my makeup! It began recording videos on YouTube! Having my time occupied for hours all the while making my outer appearance bright and sparkly. It allowed me the selfcare I needed. Once treatments ended I began to pursue a career in makeup artistry! Being hired for magazine publications without any formal training was a thrill. I went on to work for Mac, Sephora, And of course freelance work. About 6yrs ago I landed a Job with a company called Total Pro this was the pivotal point in my life! The founder and master beauty Educator Buntricia Bastian changed my life! I became certified with several aspects in makeup and became a beauty educator and began touring different countries teaching makeup and wig design! Fast forward to the pandemic where my wedding makeup business crashed! I pivoted to Permanent Makeup Services – cosmetic tattooing services and removals.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

Understanding the business has highs and lows as well understanding that Makeup is a luxury service, albeit an acquired service. Following my passion of wanting to be booked all the time opened the door for some pretty – let’s say less than colorful situations. Once I began to invest In my craft and take courses to better my skillset and personal development I learned to create a business that became sustainable. I learned to have discernment and to value myself and my business when it comes to pitching my service or for when clients inquire for service.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

I provide a Couture Beauty Experience! No two clients are alike therefore no two client experiences are alike but you can always expect a couture experience one catered to you like none other! I always put myself in my clients shoes; down to the sparkling water I choose to offer clients, it must be of luxury. I’m an authority in the beauty business persons come to me and refer me and trust me on the most important days of their lives to not only provide exceptional service but to show up dressed impeccably and to ooze professionalism as well as control for the atmosphere. I’ve been dubbed the fairy glam mother for just that very reason! Clients can rest assured that the services I provide are new and up to date as well. I’m always seeking better for my clients and my business and they witness it with each brush stroke

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

Manifestation!! Learn it! Practice it! Live it! Work towards it! So many times we can barely see ourselves getting through the week, let alone living the life we absolutely deserve! But what does any of that actually look like? Personal development has allowed me to not only believe I can have, what was once unattainable but it allows me to know that I deserve it! It’s one thing to think you want a fancy car but can you actually see yourself in the car? Do you smell the leather? How does it feel driving it up to your dream home? Can you see it? Can you feel it? Manifesting all my hearts desires, writing the plan, and working towards it! Never allowing my current situations to cloud my judgement to think – you can’t have that! I deserve everything, and I am worthy of it all! Mental strength is very important, just as financial literacy, personal development, and being the best version of you every single day!

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

You know that’s funny you asked… I’m actually working with my life coach as we speak to help me better define what success means to me! Before I thought it was traveling the world being draped in designer always looking impeccable. Life has changed drastically and all the events have allowed me to focus more on serving and finding fulfillment in my happiness and the joys of others! Within my business I offer natural solutions to women who face day to day intimate issues. During the pandemic I grew a following to date of about 25k followers all of whom I’ve helped find joy on the inside *wink,wink* Now that my beauty business is open again I can now find joy in helping women look beautiful on the outside and feel amazing on the inside! Receiving over 1000 reviews, and having women travel to come and seek my services has provided me a joy I never even knew existed. Success is being a blessing to others as well as yourself.

What’s next for you?

Continuing developing my portfolio developing the beauty education side of the business! I am so eager to teach students correctly. I hear too many times people don’t feel fulfilled when taking beauty courses so I want to be the one to set the standard of complete beauty education with new and innovative services. Continuing to provide amazing beauty services; in the past 10 months I’ve acquired 32 certifications in Luxurious Medspa services, as well I have expanded my Permanent Makeip portfolio with Scalp Micropigmentation, 3D Areola Cosmetic tattooing, Freckles, Eyeliner and Permanent Makeup corrections and removals. Continuing to be a beauty authority and teaching the world – literally the world; what I know! It’s important to pour out as much as you take in.
